What it takes ...

While chatting with Antonio this morning during the long run I told him it was impossible to me not to train on Sundays, especially on a sunny day like today. He promptly agreed, which made me think about some other things that may be deemed absolutely essential attributes for a triathlete.

If you are a triathlete, you most definitely:

1 – is a morning person, which also means “go to bed early”;
2 – is not afraid of the sea;
3 – don’t have health problems with supplements, gels, bars, etc;
4 – have support and understanding from family and friends;
5 – like training and to follow schedules, routines; and
6 – is able to trade leisure hours for rest.

(Any more?)

Mind Endurance

Make haste slowly.

I need to appreciate the subtle workings of the practice, and even when there is no extraordinary, dramatic change, to persevere with calm and patience. How important is is to be skillfull with myself, without becoming disheartened or giving up, but trusting the path and knowing that it has its own laws and its own dynamics.

Endure.
